Sunday Matters #14

There are 3 ways I’ve been encouraging us to consider as we prepare each week this season - cultivating a Worship Moment, Worship Thought, and a Worship Prayer. This week I just want to remind us all once again of how we’re using the Worship Prayer each week.

Worship Prayer: We will use the main thought as our Green Room Prayer focus before we walk out on stage. This will help us to pray in focused unity together for the things that God already wants us to experience in worship each week. This will guard us from simply praying that we “play well” or that we “don’t mess up”, but that we actually see the bigger picture of what the Spirit of God is doing on Sunday and align our hearts and prayers to HIS will and HIS gospel purpose. We need to pray like we believe Sunday Matters! It matters not only for Sunday alone, but also to lead us through Monday-Saturday too!

Chapter 14 Summary:
"Corporate worship is designed to instill in you a deeper confidence in your Savior and the power of his ever-present, inexhaustible grace" (pg. 69).

Green Room Prayer - Let’s pray this for our church as we gather THIS Sunday:

Father, you know that our church family is entering this room this morning
with all of our doubt, fear, and struggles weighing heavy on hearts.
Raise our thoughts from ourselves and place them on Christ.
Give us endurance to run to you for help and rest.
Rescue us from the doubt of judgement (pg. 72),
and hold us when we encounter the doubt of wonderment (pg. 72).
Place us in the path of our brothers and sisters
to both give and receive godly counsel and encouragement today.
May this all work together for our good
to deepen our rest and confidence in you, our Savior, this week.
Amen.
